Knowing me. Knowing you. These are Curious Hands
Friday, March 21 2024 to Thursday, March 28 2024
Did you know that many of the workshop specialists who work at Minerva Art Academy have an artistic practice? That they not only work with the materials and techniques which they teach students to use in the workshops, but that they engage in a spectrum of creative processes? And did you know that some of Minerva’s support staff are also creative makers in their spare time?
This exhibition shows the outcomes of these creative endeavours, including bags, collages, dioramas, drawings, jewellery, and other objects made from precious metals, paintings, photographs, poetry, silkscreen prints, videos, socks, and other textile works. Next to the results, the show highlights making processes. It asks how and where workshop specialists and support staff create, if they do so together or individually, in digital or analogue media, quickly or slowly, using sound or preliminary sketches?
Knowing me, knowing you invites viewers to discover and explore what usually remains behind the scenes.
Opening: Thursday 21 March 2024, 16:45.
Finissage: Thursday 28 March 2024, 15.00.
Initiated and curated by René Alberts, Vanessa Bakhuizen-van ’t Hoogt, Antonie Harms, Paul Hondtong, and Eveline Kinds. The exhibition accompanies the academic conference Curious Hands. SPACE + SOUND in Learning Making on 21 & 22 March 2024.
